General Competition Rules


Only Full Members shall be eligible to enter competitions. All Entries must be the member's original work.

1) Competition Entry forms must be submitted fully completed, together with the Prints and/or Slides and/or Digital Images, to the appropriate Competition Secretary no later than the meeting prior to the competition. Prints, Slides or Digital Images will not be accepted on the evening of the competition.

2) All slides must be titled and spotted in the bottom left hand corner and marked with either the author's name or the club membership number of the author.

3) All prints, both mono and colour, must be titled a with label affixed to the reverse showing the author's name and club membership number together with and title or description of the print. Each print shall be no less than 35 square inches in area, and mounted on board not exceeding 20"x 16".

4) All digital images should be prepared and titled in accordance with the appropriate section of the Competition Guidance Notes.

5) A maximum of 2 colour prints, 2 mono prints, 2 slides and 2 digital projection images from each member can be entered for each club competition. Points will be awarded (maximum 20) for each print or slide entered.

6) The points gained by each competitor in each section will then be added together, and the winners will be the entrant(s) with the highest total.

7) No print, slide or digital projected image can be entered if it has been entered in any previous points-scoring Club competition (excluding the slide and sound competitions) in any medium, either in the current season or any previous season.

8) The Competition Secretaries shall be responsible for collating the marks awarded and ensuring that the rules are adhered to.

9) Entries for all internal Club Competitions may be either Home-Processed or Trade-Processed.

10) Digitally enhanced images are acceptable in all Competitions except the Enprint Competition. Such computer produced images must emanate from a photograph originally taken by the author and must not be entirely generated by a computer. The copyright of every element of all pictures entered must be at the disposal of the author.

11) The Best Improver trophy will be awarded to the member who has achieved the highest increase in total score from the previous season without gaining the winners trophy in any one of the three ongoing competitions, having fully entered all rounds in both seasons.
