Print Competition No2 Three of a Kind
posted by Ian Lewis in Club Meetings
So here we were – well into January and our first competition of 2018!
What was it? ……….. Print Competition No 2 with the title ‘Three of a Kind’ that’s what!
We had all of 41 superb prints to look at – the man at the sharp end being Terry Coffee who made his way to us all the way from the frozen wastes of the Gerrard’s Cross area to be the judge.
A great variety of images too – both monochrome and colour – always amazing the imagination and creativity of our photographers when it comes to set subjects! Terry gave good detailed and helpful comments on each image – including on the mounts (although this didn’t seem to affect the final score).
So now for the really important stuff – who was awarded top marks and who the winners were. Starting with the mono images then …… those getting 20s were: ‘Hasting Tall Net Sheds’ by Tony Bates and ‘Stuff it – I’ll Walk!’ By Tilly Jamieson. In the colour section the 20s were gained by ‘Hail Caesar’ by Ceri Jones, ‘Hooku and Friends’ by Nigel Fenner and ‘Three Wise Monkeys on a Hot Pipe’ by John Sexton.
And the winners were: in the mono section - in 3rd place Ray Lewis with 36 points; in 2nd place Tony Bates with 38 points and in 1st place Tilly Jamieson with 39 points.
In the colour section in joint 2nd place were Nigel Fenner and Bill Scott – both with 36 points – and in 1st place …… John Sexton with a score of 37.
Congratulations to all the winners – and indeed to everybody who entered prints – it made for an evening of great photography! And thanks of course to Terry for making the journey over to judge our images – see you again sometime!
